A Country of Childhood Without Pain

There is a country where each of us holds citizenship. We receive it the moment we come into this world. In that country there is no government, no ministries, no hierarchies—its laws are disarmingly simple, and its judges are a smile, joy, and light. Its borders are not marked on any map, and its size depends on one thing alone: on our willingness and our ability to protect its inhabitants from pain and darkness. And on our willingness to remember that we are its citizens forever.

That country is called childhood. And it is for its sake—for the sake of affirming and expanding its borders, keeping it open and accessible, especially for those who can lose it so easily—that on 5 and 6 February two charity events were held in Cyprus in support of the launch of the Doro Life charitable foundation on the island. The Foundation’s mission is to help children and young adults with severe illnesses receive the exact treatment that is missing where the patient is being treated.

Doro Life begins its work in Cyprus by supporting the Gift of Life foundation—one of the best-known and most respected charitable organizations, which for many years has helped children with cancer. The first funds raised will go toward purchasing vital medicines for these children.

On 5 February, a private charity evening took place in Limassol, featuring a unique programme created специально for the occasion by director Anastasia Golub.

A key part of the evening was a charity auction: 17 lots were offered, with the highest-selling lot going for €15,000.

The performers and the director took part in the event pro bono, which significantly increases the amount of help the children will receive.

On 6 February, a charity concert was held at Beon Active Office by INEX. The band Samoye Bolshoye Prostoye Chislo (SBPCh) took the stage—no strangers to Cyprus, where they have performed more than once to packed halls. All the more valuable is the fact that this time the musicians performed free of charge, allowing all proceeds from ticket sales to be directed to helping children.

Chulpan Khamatova also took part in the evening.

The General Sponsor of the event was Beon Paphos.

Key Results

It is especially important that all organizational costs for both events were fully covered by sponsors, meaning that 100% of the funds raised will be directed toward purchasing vital medicines for children with cancer. The total amount raised over the two evenings was €170,000.

The Foundation thanks the artists, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and guests who supported the launch in Cyprus and made this miracle possible.
